How to Change a Template in Word 2007

1. Open a blank document in Word 2007.
2. Click on the 'Microsoft Office' button in the top left corner of the program window and select 'Open.' The 'Open' dialog box will appear.
3. Click on 'Templates' under the 'Microsoft Office Word' heading on the left side of the dialog box.
4. Scroll through the list of templates on the right side of the dialog box and double-click the template you wish to change. For example, if you want to change the Normal template (the default template that loads when you start Microsoft Word) then click on 'Normal.dotm.' The template will load into Word.
5. Verify that the template name appears on the Word title bar at the very top of the program window. In our example, 'Normal.dotm' should appear in the title bar.
6. Make changes to the document based on how you want the template to look when you open it. Changes can include, but are not limited, to font, margins and paragraph and character spacing.
7. Click on the 'Microsoft Office' button once you are finished making changes and select 'Save.' Any time you open the document template, the changes you made will automatically load.
