How to Configure a Booklet Printing in Word

1. Open Microsoft Word and the file which you wish to print as a booklet.
2. Click on the 'File' command and select 'Page Setup' if you are using Word 2003 or earlier editions. For Word 2007, click on the 'Page Layout' and then select 'Page Setup.'
3. Select the 'Margins' tab within the Page Layout window that appears and then select 'Book Fold' from the drop down menu next to the words 'Multiple Pages.'
4. Enter your preferences for the inside and outside margins, number of pages you want in your booklet, header and footer information, and any other options. While there is no standard size for booklets, it is usually easiest to use a size that can be easily reduced from standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. A common size for a booklet is one that is made from a standard sheet of paper folded in half, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches.
5. Proofread the booklet and reposition any text or graphics as needed after making these changes.
6. Open the 'Print' dialog box and select the 'Manual duplex' check box. Select the pages you would like printed and click 'Print.' Word will prompt you when it is time to take the printed pages, flip them over and re-insert them into the printer for printing on the opposite sides.
