How to Make MS Office Load Faster
1. Open Microsoft Word. Click the Office logo in the top left. Click on 'Options.' Click on 'Add-Ins.'
2. Look at the bottom of the screen to the right of the word 'Manage.' Choose 'Com Add-Ins.' Click 'Go.'
3. Uncheck the add-ins and click 'OK.' Add-Ins provide extra utility at the cost of reducing your speed. It may be useful to turn all of the add-ins off, then turn them on one at a time to identify what each add-in is doing to help you.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
5. Click on 'Tools.' Click on 'Trust Center.' Scroll to the bottom and click on 'Add-Ins.' This procedure works for Outlook, Infopath, Publish, and Visio.
System Clean-Up
6. Click on the 'Start' button on the lower left of your desktop. Click on 'All Programs.' Click on 'System Tools.'
7. Click on 'Disk Defragmenter.' Click on 'Defragment Now' and select your boot drive. Click 'OK.'
8. Click on 'System Tools' after you computer has finished defragmenting. Click on 'Disk Cleanup.' Select your boot drive and click 'OK.' Select the files you wish to delete. The most common files you should delete will begin with the word 'temporary.'
Change Default Printer
9. Click on the 'Start' button. In the search bar, type 'Printer.'
10. Click on 'Printers' or 'Printers and Faxes' depending on which version of Microsoft Windows you own.
11. Right-click on a printer icon. Click 'Set as Default.' The printer icon with a green check mark will be your current default.
