How to Count Words in a Word 2003 Document
1. Open the Word document you need to count. To count a specific section, select the text by clicking and dragging with the mouse.
2. Open the "Tools" menu. Click the "Word Count" option.
3. Clear the "Include footnotes and endnotes" check box to count only the main text. Click "Recount" if you select a different portion of text.
