How to Insert a Floating Text Box in Microsoft Word


1. Click the top 'Insert tab in Microsoft Word.
2. Click 'Text box' in the Text group and select the style of text box you wish to add.
3. Type and format the text within the text box just as you would text in the document.
4. Click the edge of the text box and drag the text box to its desired position.
5. Click 'Text Wrapping' from the Arrange group of the Text Box Tools tab, which should already be visible, and select the text wrapping method you prefer, such as 'Square,' 'Top and Bottom' or 'Through.'
6. Click outside the text box to return to the main document.
