How to Password Protect a Microsoft Project


1. Click the 'Start' or Windows button in the lower left corner of your screen.
2. Select 'Programs' or 'All Programs,' and then scroll to 'Microsoft Office' and select 'Microsoft Project.'
3. Click 'File' at the top of the screen, and then select 'New' to create a new project or 'Open' to open an existing project.
4. Click 'File' at the top of the screen, and then select the 'Save As' option.
5. Select the 'Tools' button at the top of the 'Save As' window, and then select 'General Options.'
6. Type your password into the text field next to 'Protection password' to prevent other people from opening your file or next to 'Write reservation password' to prevent others from editing your file. Click the 'OK' button when finished.
7. Enter a name for your file next to 'File Name' in the 'Save As' window, and then select a location for the file and click the 'Save' button when finished.
