How to Save OpenOffice as a Word Document for Printing
1. Open OpenOffice Writer, if it is closed, by clicking on the program's icon on your computer's desktop or by clicking 'Start,' 'All Programs' and 'OpenOffice Writer,' if using Windows.If using a Mac, click on your Mac's hard drive, 'Applications,' 'OpenOffice' and 'OpenOffice Writer.'
2. Click 'File,' 'Open.' Navigate to and double-click on the document you want to save as a Word file.
3. Click 'File,' 'Save As.' Click on the down arrow next to 'Save as type' and select 'Microsoft Word 97/200/XP (.doc).'If you want to save the file to a removable disc or network location, click on the down arrow next to 'Save in:' and navigate to that removable disc or network location.
4. Click 'Save.'
5. Open Word by clicking on the program's icon on your computer's desktop or by clicking 'Start,' 'All Programs' and 'Microsoft Word,' if using Windows.If using a Mac, click on your Mac's hard disk drive icon, then the 'Applications' folder. Click 'Microsoft Office,' 'Microsoft Word.'
6. Click 'File,' 'Open.' Navigate to and double-click on the file you saved as a Word document. Click 'File,' 'Print' once the document opens.
7. Click 'OK' to print the document.
