How to Count Specific Words in OpenOffice
1. Open or write your article in OpenOffice.org Writer.
2. Hold the 'Ctrl' key and press 'F' to open the 'Find' dialog box.
3. Enter the specific word you wish to count in the 'Search for' field.
4. Check 'Whole words only' if you only wish to find that specific word. For example, You might want to find 'cat,' but not 'cats' or 'catastrophe.'
5. Press 'Find All.' This highlights all the occurrences of that specific word.
6. Click 'Tools' in the top menu bar, and select 'Word Count.'
7. Look for 'Words' under the 'Current selection' header. This number is the number of occurrences of that specific word. You can also find the documents total word count under the section 'Whole document.'
