Create a Web Frames Page
6. Select 'New' under the Office button to create a new document.
7. Click the 'New Frame Above' button on the Quick Access bar. The page is split horizontally. Grab the frame divider and move it up to create a narrow top frame for your logo and title.
8. Right-click in the top frame to edit the frame properties. Change the Name on the Frame tab to 'Top.' Set frame border properties on the Border tab. Hit 'OK.'
9. Click in the top frame and type 'topframe.' When you save the file the first time, Word automatically uses this text for the file name.
10. Click in the lower frame. Click the 'New Frame Left' button on the Quick Access bar to create a menu frame. The lower frame is split vertically. Grab the vertical frame divider and drag it to the left to make a narrow menu frame.
11. Right-click in the left frame to edit the frame properties. Change the Name on the Frame tab to 'Menu.' Set frame border properties on the Border tab. Hit 'OK.'
12. Click in the top frame and type 'menuframe.' Word automatically uses this text for the file name.
13. Right-click in the bottom right frame to edit the frame properties. Change the Name on the Frame tab to 'Content.' Set frame border properties on the Border tab. Hit the 'OK' button.
14. Click in the bottom right frame and type 'main.' Word automatically uses this text for the file name. This frame is for your main webpage content.
15. Open the 'Save As' menu under the Office button and choose 'Other Formats.' Choose the folder to save your files in. Choose 'Web Page, Filtered' under 'Save as type.' Type 'index.htm' (or file name of your choosing) in the File Name box. This will be the file name of the main web page that contains the three frames. The other pages are automatically created when you save the file. Click the 'Save' button.
16. Edit each frame, adding links, images, text and other content. The 'menuframe,' 'topframe' and 'main' text can be deleted. Save the file to save the contents of all of the frames.
17. Add more webpages. Create new 'Web Page, Filtered' documents and save them in the same folder with your frames pages.
18. Create links in the menu frame to the new pages. On the 'Insert Hyperlink' window, hit the 'Target Frame' button and choose 'Content' in the 'Select Frame...' menu. This causes the new page to open in the content frame when the link is clicked.
