How to Stop Double Spacing in Microsoft Word 2007

1. Double-click on the 'Microsoft Word 2007' icon on your desktop or under your computer's start menu. Click on 'File' and select 'New.' Begin typing your document in the new file. Once you have a few lines written you can change the spacing by highlighting the text and clicking the 'Format' tab.
2. Click on the 'Paragraph' option under the 'Format' menu to access the spacing and indent options. This window includes a drop-down menu featuring choices like 'Single,' '1.5' and 'Double' under the 'Line Spacing' label. Choose the 'Single' option, and your entire selection will transform from double spaced to single spaced in an instant.
3. Open any other existing document you need to change the spacing on and follow steps 1 and 2 again to convert the text in these documents to single spacing. Save all changes once the conversion is complete.
4. Click on the 'Line Spacing' button (the one with one arrow going up and the other going down) in the toolbar menu to change your default setting. Choose the bottom option on the menu: 'Remove space after paragraph.' Click on the box next to the correct spacing you want, and your defaults will be set.
