How to Convert Word to Word Perfect

Use WordPerfect
1. Start WordPerfect, and then click on the 'File' menu in the left corner of the toolbar.
2. Click 'Open', and click on the 'File Type' field in the Open dialog box. Select 'All Files' and navigate to the location of the Word file.
3. Select the 'Word Filename' and click 'Open'. WordPerfect X5 can open most Word documents from Word 97 to Word 2010. Older versions of WordPerfect may not be able to open any DOC file. If you get an error message when you try to open the file, convert the file.
Save as a Rich Text Format File
4. Open Word and the document to send to the WordPerfect user. Click on the 'Microsoft Office' button, and then click 'Save As'. In the Save As dialog box, click on the 'Save as Type' field and select 'Rich Text Format (*RTF)'. Click 'Save'.
5. Send the modified file to the WordPerfect user. The WordPerfect user starts WordPerfect and clicks on 'File'.
6. Click 'Open' and navigate to the file location. Double-click on the 'Filename' to open the file.
Convert the File
7. Point a browser to websites like Free File Converter to modify the Word document. This free online converter does not create WPD documents, but you can convert the file into a RTF file.
8. Click on the 'Convert File' tab, and then fill in the online form. Click 'Convert' to change the file. Depending on the file size, this can take a few minutes.
9. Download the file by right-clicking on the 'Filename Link.' Select 'Save Target As' option and then click 'Save'.
