How to Check the Word Count in Microsoft Word

1. Launch Microsoft Word 2010. If you want to find the word count of a document that you have already created, double-click that document to open it in Word 2010.
2. Type your document or make changes to the existing document.
3. Click the 'Review' tab at the top of the window.
4. Click the 'Word Count' button in the 'Proofing' section of the ribbon at the top-left section of the window. This will scan the document and open a 'Word Count' pop-up window in the center of the window.
5. Locate the value to the right of 'Words' in the 'Word Count' window. The displayed value is the number of words in your document.
