How to Apply Styles and Formatting From One Word Document to Another
1. Open the document you want to copy styles to, then open the import/export dialog. In Word 2007, click the 'Home' tab, then 'Styles,' then the 'Manage Styles' button with a picture of a pencil, then 'Import/Export.' In Word 2003, click the 'Tools' menu, then 'Templates and Add-Ons,' then 'Organizer,' then the 'Styles' tab.
2. Examine the dialog box. It will display two lists -- one of the styles in the current document and one of a separate source, probably Word's standard styles template. Click 'Close File' to remove the other source, the one that isn't your open document, from the dialog box -- you don't need any styles from it.
3. Click 'Open File,' then browse to and select the document you want to copy styles from.
4. Select the styles you want to copy and click 'Copy,' then 'Yes to All' if prompted to overwrite styles that already exist. Press 'Close' when all the styles you want are copied into your document.
