How to Disable Automatic Numbering in OpenOffice
Turning Off Automatic Numbering in OpenOffice Writer
1. Go to 'Tools' and 'AutoCorrect Options' in OpenOffice Writer.
2. Select the 'Options' tab in the AutoCorrect dialog box.
3. Deselect the 'Apply numbering -- symbol: •' check box.
4. Click 'OK.' You should now be able to use numbers at the beginning of your sentences and paragraphs without Writer creating a numbered list.
Disabling All Automatic Formatting in OpenOffice Writer
5. Go to 'Format' and 'AutoCorrect' from the top menu bar of Writer.
6. Click 'While Typing' to deselect the feature. This will disable all AutoCorrect functions while you are typing your document.
7. To turn Automatic Formatting back on, go to 'Format,' 'AutoCorrect' and reselect 'While Typing.'
