How to Automatically Insert the Document Filename in Word
Word 2007 or 2010
1. Open an existing document in Microsoft Word.
2. Place your cursor where you want to insert the document's file name.
3. Click the 'Insert' menu. In the 'Text' group, click 'Quick Parts,' then 'Field.'
4. Scroll down the 'Field names' list and select 'FileName.' Select a field format if necessary. Click 'OK' to insert it.
5. Click the 'File' tab or 'Microsoft Office Button,' then 'Save' to save the changes.
Word 2003
6. Open an existing document in Microsoft Word.
7. Place your cursor where you want to insert the document's file name.
8. Click the 'Insert' menu, then 'Field.'
9. Scroll down the 'Field names' list and select 'FileName. Select a field format, then click 'OK' to insert it.
10. Click 'File,' then 'Save' to save the changes.
