How to Insert Ticks in a Word Document

1. Click 'Insert' and 'Symbol' on the Ribbon menu.
2. Select 'More Symbols...' from the Symbol menu that drops down. The Symbol dialog box is displayed, enabling you to select and insert a wide variety of special characters directly into your document.
3. Change the font to Wingdings, a set of decorative and special characters. Scroll down the list of displayed characters to character 252, the tick mark character. Double-click on the character to insert it into the document. Close the dialog box. If you single-click the character, click 'Insert' to place the character at the insertion point in your document. The Wingdings font contains two tick symbols, character 252 and 254, a tick in a box. Lighter versions of the characters are numbers 80 and 82 in the Wingdings2 font.
