Make a CD Cover Using Word 2003
1. Open Microsoft Word. Go to the 'File' menu, click 'New.'
2. Type 'CD' into the 'Search Online For' field. Press 'Enter.' This action opens a list of available Microsoft Word templates.
3. Click on the CD cover template that you want to use and click 'Download.' The CD cover opens as a new Microsoft Word document.
4. Right-click the CD cover shape and select 'Format Shape.' Select a color or fill effect from the 'Color' drop-down list and click 'OK.' Skip this step if you wish to use the default template colors.
5. Click inside a text box and type over the sample text with your CD's information. Repeat with all remaining text boxes. If you do not need a text box, click the border to select it and click the 'Delete' button to remove it.
6. Click the 'Save' button on the toolbar or press the keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+S' to save the CD cover. Print it on adhesive printer paper. Wait for the ink to dry. Cut out the template. Remove the backing from the label and stick the cover onto the CD.
Make a CD Cover Using Word 2007 or 2010
7. Open Microsoft Word. Click the 'Office Button' in Word 2007 or the 'File Tab' in Word 2010. Select 'New.'
8. Type 'CD' into the 'Search Office.com for Templates' box and press the 'Enter' key. A gallery of available templates opens.
9. Click on the CD cover template that you want to use and click 'Download.' The CD cover opens as a new Microsoft Word document.
10. Change the background color of the CD cover by right-clicking the cover and selecting 'Format Shape.' Click on 'Color' and select a fill color or other fill effect. Skip this step to keep the default template color.
11. Click inside the first text box. Select the sample text by dragging your mouse over it or by pressing 'Ctrl+A.' Type your desired text into the box. Repeat with the rest of the text boxes. To delete a text box, click the border to select it. Press the 'Delete' key.
12. Click the 'Save' button on the 'Quick Access Toolbar' to save the CD cover. Print it on adhesive printer paper. Wait for the ink to dry. Cut out the template. Remove the backing from the label and stick the cover onto the CD.
