How to Use Cross


1. Open the document in which you want to insert a cross-reference. Go to the folder location of the file, click on it to select it and then click on 'Open.'
2. Double-click within the text where you want to put the cross-reference.
3. Click on the 'References' tab, 'Reference' and then 'Cross-reference.' The 'Cross-reference' dialog box shows.
4. Click on the 'Reference type:' drop-down arrow to select the type of cross-reference you want to add. Click on the 'Insert reference to:' drop-down arrow to select the type of information that will appear in the text of the cross-reference. Click the 'Insert as hyperlink' check box if you want the reference to be clickable.
5. Click the item you want to be referenced in the 'For which heading:' box. Click 'Insert.' The cross-reference will be added with the options that you selected.
