How to Recover a Word 2007 Document
1. Search 'All files and folders' under the start menu for 'All or part of the file name.' Enter the name of the document you're looking for. Open it if it is there.
2. Look for a file with a .wbk extension in the original file's folder. If one is not there, search 'All files and folders' for .wbk. If you see a file named 'Backup of (original document),' click the Microsoft Office button, choose 'All Files (.)' under 'Files of Type,' and open the document.
3. Open Microsoft Word if you didn't find your document in Steps 1 and 2. If Word saved an Autorecovery document before the program closed, the Document Recovery pane will appear. Open the file labeled 'Recovered.'
4. Click the Microsoft Office button and choose 'Open' if the Document Recovery pane did not appear. Click the arrow on the 'Open' button and choose 'Open and Repair.'
5. Open the Search under the Start menu if you have not yet found your file. Type .ASD next to 'All Files and Folders' and search. Open the file as described in Step 2.
