How to Repair Word When it Has Insufficient Memory
1. Close any programs that are currently open and you do not need to use.
2. Check for programs running in the background. Press 'Ctrl+Shift+Esc' to open the 'Task Manager.' Go to the 'Processes' tab and look for any processes that are running unnecessarily. Close these programs by clicking on them, one at a time, and then clicking the 'End Process' button. Do not end your antivirus program or any processes about which you are uncertain.
3. Run the Windows 'Disk Cleanup' tool. Click the 'Start' button and open 'Computer' or 'My Computer.'
4. Right-click 'Local Disk (C:)' and select 'Properties.' Go to the 'General' tab and click the 'Disk Cleanup' button. Click 'Continue' if a 'User Account Control' window requests permission to do so. Wait for the 'Disk Cleanup Tool' to calculate the amount of space you can free on your hard disk.
5. Click on a file type in the 'Files to Delete' section of the 'Disk Cleanup' window to view a description of those types of files. With a file type selected, click the 'View' button near the bottom of the 'Disk Cleanup' window if you want to look at the files you will be deleting.
6. Select the check boxes next to the types of files you want to delete in the 'Disk Cleanup' window. Click 'OK' and then click the 'Delete' button to confirm that you want to delete the selected files. The process may take a few minutes. You should then have sufficient memory to save your Word document.
