How to See the Ruler in a Word Document

1. Click the "View" tab, and select "Print Layout."
2. Click the "View Ruler" icon located at the top of the vertical scroll bar, which appears on the far right side of the document. Both the horizontal and vertical rulers should appear. If the vertical ruler does not appear, continue to Step 3.
3. Click the "File" tab, select "Options" and click "Advanced." Scroll to the Display section, and check the box "Show Vertical Ruler in Print Layout View." Click "OK" to close the Options dialog box.
