How to Change Page Numbering in Office Word 2007
1. Open Microsoft Office 2007 on your computer. The program can usually be accessed by opening the 'Start' menu, selecting 'All Programs' and opening the 'Microsoft Office' folder. The program can also be located in the 'Microsoft Office' folder of the 'Program Files' folder in the 'My Computer' screen.
2. Open the document you wish to edit by selecting the 'Open' option from the Microsoft Office button in the top left-hand corner of the Word 2007 screen. Locate the desired file on your computer and click 'Open.'
3. Click on the 'Insert' tab at the top of the program. Locate the 'Header and Footer' toolbar at the top of the screen, which is the third to last toolbar by default.
4. Click on the 'Page Number' icon to open a drop-down menu. Select the desired location for your page numbers. You may choose to place page numbers at the top, bottom or margin of the page. Hover your cursor over your desired selection.
5. Select the precise spot to place the page number from the extended menu. You can place the page numbers on the left, right or middle of the header or footer. You may place page numbers vertically or horizontally on the left or right page margin. Choose the 'Accent Page' option to place the word 'Page' in front of your page numbers.
6. Select the 'Format Page Numbers' option from the 'Page Number' drop-down menu to edit the appearance of your page numbers. Select the desired appearance of your page numbers from the 'Number Format' drop-down menu. Use the 'Include Chapter Number' option to create chapters within your document. Select the numeric value for your page numbering to start with by entering the number in the 'Page Numbering' section.
7. Select the 'Remove Page Numbers' from the 'Page Number' drop-down menu to delete page numbering. This feature deletes all page numbering contained in your document.
