How to Draw a Square Using the Rectangle Button in MS Word

1. Open Microsoft Word. Click the 'Insert' tab at the top of the screen.
2. Click the 'Shapes' button on the toolbar/ribbon below the tab. Click the first button under the 'Rectangles' section of the drop-down menu. The cursor changes to a plus sign.
3. Hover the cursor over the Word document, press and hold down the left mouse button and drag the cursor. A rectangle shape forms.
4. Right-click the rectangle and a border of boxes surrounds it. Select 'More Layout Options.'
5. Click the 'Size' tab. Type the exact same dimension into the 'Height' and 'Width' box, such as '2' for each. This is to ensure the sides of the shape are exactly the same length, forming a square instead of a rectangle.
6. Click the 'OK' button and the rectangle shape turns into a square.
