How to make a fillable form in Microsoft Word


Rich Text
1. Open the Word document for which you want to insert text fields.
2. Click the 'Developer' tab. See Tips if you cannot find the 'Developer' tab.
3. Place your cursor where you want to insert a text field.
4. Click the 'Rich Text Content Control' button from the Ribbon's 'Control' section. The 'Rich Text Content Control' button dons 'Aa.' A text field appears.
Drop-Down Field
5. Open the Word document for which you want to insert a drop-down menu.
6. Click the 'Developer' tab. See Tips if you cannot find the 'Developer' tab.
7. Place your cursor where you want to insert a drop-down box.
8. Click the button resembling a drop-down list in the 'Controls' section of the Ribbon. A drop-down box appears.
9. Click the drop-down box and click 'Properties' in the Ribbon. A dialog box appears where you can modify the drop-down box.
10. Click 'Add.'
11. Type a drop-down menu option's name into the 'Display Name' field and click 'OK.' Continue adding drop-down menu options by following Steps 6 and 7.
12. Click 'OK' to finish modifying the drop-down menu.
Check Box
13. Open the Word document for which you want to insert check boxes.
14. Click the 'Developer' tab. See Tips if you cannot find the 'Developer' tab.
15. Place your cursor where you want to insert a check box.
16. Click the check box icon in the 'Controls' area of the Ribbon. A check box appears.
