How to Apply a Style to a Table Using Microsoft Word XP

1. Access your Microsoft Word XP program. Open the document to which you wish to apply styles. Place your cursor within the table you are customizing.
2. Click on the menu bar and choose 'Table' then 'Autoformat.' This opens the 'Table Autoformat' dialog box. Click in the 'Table Styles' list and choose the type of style that you want. For example, 'Table Classic 1' or 'Table Colorful.' When you click on any style, the 'Preview' window at the bottom of your dialog box will display a picture of what your style will look like within your table.
3. Click the 'New' button on the right if you wish to create a new style. If you want to delete a style, choose the style under 'Table Styles' and choose the 'Delete' button on the right. If you want to save a particular style to be used as the default style, click the 'Default' button on the right hand side of the dialog box. When this option is chosen, Word XP will automatically apply this style to your tables.
4. Click the 'Apply' button to create your style within the table.
