How to Change From Word 2007 to Word 2003

1. Use Microsoft 2007 to convert all of your documents to Word 2003 versions. Open each of the Word 2007 documents on your computer, then go to the 'Start' button and select the 'Save As' command.
2. Select the 'Word 97-2003' option. This will save your documents in the DOC format that Word 2003 can read. Word 2007 files are DOCX. Once you have converted all of your documents, close Word 2007 and open Word 2003.
3. Visit the Microsoft's Word 2003 to Word 2007 Interactive Command Reference Guide (see resources). This will allow you to compare the menu system of Word 2003 and the ribbon system of Word 2007 so you can learn which menu to use in place of the ribbon in 2007. It will help you make the change between the two programs a little more smooth.
4. Click on 'Start the Guide.' Wait for the interactive system to load, then click on the 'Start' button. An image of Word 2003 will appear. Click on various menus and the system will take you back and forth between Word 2007 and 2003 until you are familiar with where the same commands can be found in either version of Word. Refer to this interactive tutorial until you feel you are ready to stop using Word 2007 and are ready to change over to Word 2003.
