How to Unformat Fractions in Word 2007


Undo the Formatting of Previously Typed Fractions
1. Place your cursor over the formatted fraction. Under the fraction, a blue box appears.
2. Click the blue box to open a small menu called 'AutoCorrect Options.'
3. Select 'Undo Fraction.'
Stop AutoFormat from Formatting Your Fractions
4. Open Microsoft Word 2007 and click the 'Microsoft Office' button located on the upper right side of your document. Select 'Word Options' at the bottom of the menu.
5. Click the 'Proofing' tab from the side of the Word Options dialog box. Select the 'Auto Correction Options' button.
6. Select the 'Auto Format' tab. Uncheck the box labeled 'Fractions (1/2) with Fraction Character (½).' To insert a fraction after disabling fraction Auto Format, you must click the 'Insert' tab and select 'Symbol.' Navigate through the many symbols and highlight the correct fraction. Click 'Insert.'
