How to Install New Fonts to Word


1. Close out any Windows applications open and then open the 'Fonts' folder on your computer. You can access this folder by opening your Control Panel. If you have Windows 7, the 'Fonts' folder will be listed with the other folders in the Control Panel. If you have Windows Vista or XP, click 'Appearances and Themes' after opening the Control Panel to access the 'Fonts' folder.
2. Minimize the 'Fonts' folder and open the folder that has the font you want to install if you have the Windows 7 operating system.
3. Make the 'Fonts' folder and the folder with the font you want to install smaller so you can view them both at the same time. Drag the font from the folder it is in and drop it in the 'Fonts' folder. A dialog box will opening saying that the font is being installed. After the font finishes installing, it will be available to use on Microsoft Word.
4. Click 'File' after opening the 'Fonts' folder on Windows Vista and XP. Select 'Install New Font' from the drop-down menu. A dialog box will open so you can browse and select the font you want to install.
5. Select the drive the font is located in and then select the folder that has the font you want to install. Click the font you want to install and then click 'OK.' The font will install and will be available for use in Word.
