How to Open an Odt File On Your Computer

1. First, understand what an ODT file is. Odt files are files saved for Open Office. Open office is a free open source suite of programs, similar to Microsoft office. Open office is seen as a free alternative to Microsoft office.
2. Next, to view the odt document and to view the odt file in the correct format, use open office to open the odt file. See resources below for where you can install Open Office.
3. If you are using Microsoft office (2007, 2003, etc), download a service pack to convert between the formats. However, know that sometimes when converting the files the layout of your document may change. Make sure you are up to date with any updates, and install the plugin (see reference below) for your office program.After installing any neccessary programs in your microsoft office, go to File->Open, and then browse to your odt file of choice and click Open to open your odt file!
