Document Recovery on Microsoft Word 2007

Retrieving Files From Document Recovery in Word 2007
1. Open Microsoft Word. Document Recovery will open if Microsoft Word closed before you could save your document. Even if you had saved your document and made no changes afterward, Document Recovery will still open if AutoRecover saved your file after you did. (Refer to AutoRecover in the next section.)
2. Open the file(s) within the Document Recovery panel on the left hand side of your screen. Read over the original file saved by you and/or the recovered files saved by the program. Decide on the file(s) you want to save.
3. Select the document by right clicking it and choose Save from the drop menu. When saving a recovered document, you might be asked if you want to replace the original. If you wish to replace it, then select Yes... If not, select No and just save the recovered document under a different name. That way you will be able to save all the documents if you choose to.
Setting Up AutoRecover in Word 2007
4. Click on the Office button in the top left corner of your screen and select Word Options at the bottom of the menu. Click on Save in the Word Options pane.
5. Check the box that says Save AutoRecover information every __ minutes under Save documents.
6. Insert a number to decide how often you want your documents to be saved and the location they can be found. So if you choose 5 minutes, your document will be saved every 5 minutes as long as you keep it open. If you do not save your document after AutoRecover has saved it, then your document will show up in Document Recovery the next time Word is opened.
