How to Convert Excel Spreadsheets to Word
1. Copy and paste the data, preserving the text formatting from Excel. Select the data cells in Excel and press "Ctrl-C" to copy them to the clipboard. Open a new document in Microsoft Word. Go to the Home tab and click on the arrow below "Paste." Select "Paste Special." In the dialog box that opens, select the "Formatted Text (RTF)" option. Click "OK," and the data cells will appear in Word.
2. Copy and paste the data into Word as an Excel object. Repeat Step 1 but instead choose the "Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object" option for the Paste Special command. This allows you to edit the data with Excel tools by double-clicking on the pasted table. If you plan to update the data in Excel and want it to update in Word at the same time, make sure "Paste link" is selected when you choose the "Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object" option.
3. Embed an Excel chart or graph as a picture in Word. Click on the chart in Excel and press "Ctrl-C" to copy it. In Word, use the Paste Special command again, but choose the "Picture (Enhanced Metafile)" option. Although you can adjust the image size by dragging on a corner of the pasted image, you cannot edit or reformat the chart. If you want to make changes, you'll have to do it in Excel and copy and paste the chart again.
